Back At It in 2013!

It has been way toooooo long since I have done this and I am ready to get back on it!!  This week is a new start in 2013 to lose weight, get fit and be happier all the way around!

I have started my diet plan this week and am using the "My Fitness Pal" app on my iphone.  This helps me count my calories for the day and also get credit for burning calories through cardio.  Based on my weight, height and goal weight, I am able to have 1430 calories per day.  Yesterday I was under by about 350 calories for the day after a light stretching yoga session on my lunch break at work.  It is National Stress Awareness Week so my office is making an effort to do things for us that are relaxing and beneficial to our work and ourselves.  Then I enjoyed a light walk with my sis-in-law and the kids after a very healthy dinner of taco salad but with ZERO Carbs!  I went easy on the dressing and heavy on the veggies...both satisfying and nutritious!

I am so ready to be back on the band wagon and hope that I can get my followers back and help motivate each and every one of you!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for AT LEAST one weekly update!

18 pounds and going strong!

Well, I am happy to announce I have officially lost 18 pounds since the start of my workout/diet plan in the beginning of March.  I am so thrilled I could just jump up and down (and I think I will since it is, after all, a workout!  :)) and I am not stopping here!!  I got a bike from my wonderful sister-in-law which I have used a ton since I got it just a week ago!  Yesterday I went on a 3.5 mile bike ride followed by 2.5 mile power walk/jog and then 75 crunches and leg lifts!  It was a great day, but I have had a hard time with food lately.  I cheated on Sunday and Monday of this week and then yesterday I had a cupcake...dangit!  It hurts to screw up when I am working so hard at working out, it just doesn't make the sweets worth it when it is followed by dreaded guilt!  :)

Anyway, I am still truckin along and am nowhere near stopping!  As the weather gets warmer, I am going to start swimming and doing aqua fit exercises...it's so much fun and I feel that I'm pretty good at showing others how to do the different moves in the water.  It is such a great workout and you don't feel it near as much because you are in the water!  So when the heat of the summer really sets in, I will be pool bound at least a few times a week!  Let me know if you want to join or have a good pool to host these workouts occasionally!

I just printed out this awesome article about a week-long arm workout with different exercises to maximize the lifting time and tone those arms!  I definitely need this to get rid of extra FLABBBB  but also it's good for summer-time toned arms for bathing suit season!  At this rate, I will be bikini bound by July baby!  :)  (JK, I'm too old for that!)  So now it's off to ebay or amazon.com to get some weights and a yoga mat!

Thanks to all for reading and following along with my successes....it's a long road but I am definitely not falling off anytime soon and I would love some workout buddies so please hit me up if you are interested in meeting up!

Love to all my followers!

Staying Positive on a Monday??

Good Morning Blogger Fans!

That's right, I am keeping up a good attitude even on a Monday!  :)  I am thrilled to announce that this morning I am wearing slacks that haven't fit me in over 2 years!!  WOW what am amazing way to start my week along with a vigorous workout planned for after work!  I have pretty strictly been working out at least 4 times per week power walking between 3 and 5 miles per day with my walking buddies.  It is getting to be pretty hot in the evening after work but I am powering through, the sweat means it's working right??  HAHA!  Anyway I haven't seen much change on the scale but in the way I feel and clothes are fitting, I can tell my hard work is already starting to pay off!

This past weekend was Easter as you all know which can be a hard time to stick to a diet plan....especially when there are so many yummy snacks and desserts everywhere!  Well I passed on queso and hot dogs on Saturday night, and instead had a salad which was pretty good....ok I had one chocolate chip cookie but other than that I was strong on Saturday!  Then Sunday lunch was hard too so I didn't deprive myself of anything but I stayed in CONTROL, not just blind eating til I wanted to pop!  :)  I couldn't miss out on banana pudding but I skipped the chocolate cake and pies...and instead filled up on my sis-in-laws zucchini/squash side and baked ham!  It was a wonderful weekend with family and friends but I am glad to be home and get back into my routine of working out and eating right!  The hubby is home from work today so he can get laundry, dishes, vacuuming and all fun housecleaning done so I can focus on working out and cooking a healthy dinner tonight.  Oh and my other sis-in-law may be giving birth today so that will definitely be our priority as soon as she does! YAY babies!  :)

Thanks for reading and keeping up with me, sorry it has been a while since I last posted.

Here is your belly melt tip of the day:
Work out to music you don't know as well so you can focus on your work out instead of music you know very well.

I found that this tip really does work guys so give it a try!  :)

Keepin' Up the Good Work!

This week is going amazing as far as workouts go and I am feeling amazing about it!  Monday we had an impending tornado in nearby counties but i risked my life to get a workout in!  :)  Ok not really but it was about to rain....ok so it didn't rain for like 6 hours after that so I am VERY glad I didn't let the weather scare me off!  I walked 2 miles on my own and did 2 sets of intervals on Monday, I found some places in my neighborhood that I have never seen before and I ended up at the Interstate!  HA!  Yesterday was my second trip to the Central Market Trail with my awesome buddy Melissa K. where we did THREE sets of intervals and walked a total of 3 and a 1/2 miles, WOW!  Talk about feeling amazing today, though I am sore it's a great feeling and I am not about to stop!  Today we have dinner plans at my sister-in-law's house but I am still going to get some sort of workout in!  Nothing can stop me now!!!!  It's amazing how quickly you can feel motivated to work out more and more, it's just a matter or starting good habits and sticking to them!  Only bad thing so far this week was I didn't like the dinner I cooked myself last night.  Of course the hubby wanted smoked sausage and mac'n cheese...what am I married to a 10 year old?!  HAHA!  So I made him that and myself a shrimp and veggie mix with Teriyaki sauce...it didn't turn out as I had hoped so I ended up eating an orange and a banana for dinner.  Not exactly wholesome but at least I didn't break down and eat sausage!!  :)

Will power is a powerful thing ya'll, and I am here to tell you if you use it in a positive way, your life will change drastically!!

Feel the Burn!

Two days of working out this week and it's only Thursday, I'm feeling pretty good about that!  Yesterday I went with my friend Melissa to the Central Market trail at 38 1/2 St. and it was a TON of fun!  We walked about 2 miles and tried the intervals i learned about in my belly melt book!  We power walked one lap, then started mixing in the intervals.  We did THREE sets of intervals for 5 minutes each so it got pretty intense!  There were stair steppers, lateral jumps, hopscotch and lunges...so 30 seconds of the interval followed by 30 seconds of power walking for 5 minutes followed by 5 minutes of recovery and then all over again!  This helped us to keep a constant heart rate and burn more calories throughout our workout; the idea behind the intervals is to burn more calories in less time than a normal walking/jogging workout.  I definitely was feeling it which was a great feeling!  Afterwards, I headed home to clean the kitchen and start dinner.  I made a tilapia/crab/mushroom stir fry thing with rice and green beans, yum!  The man worked late again so we ate late which is unfortunate but at least it wasn't a fattening meal!  Tomorrow I am off to Fiesta Texas with my sister which means a day FULL of cardio, I am so excited!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Stayin' in the Groove!

So last night I made a very healthy dinner of tilapia with black olives and crab along with cream corn made with greek yogurt and "red potatoes". HAHA...this was an awesome trick I played and it totally worked! So my red potatoes are actually radishes that I boil for about 20 minutes with spices and a tsp of olive oil. Then you spice them after they are boiled and serve, they look and somewhat taste just like red potatoes! My hubby totally fell for it, and loved them by the way! I didn't tell him the truth...well not yet but I will! :) It's the only way I can get him to eat healthy food! HAHA! So my food changes are going very well, it's coming a lot easier than I ever expected. The physical side of it is proving to be harder than I thought...I can't stay motivated after work to get out there run it out! So I am walking with the dogs and hoping the hubby will join too so I can stay active and motivated. Now that softball is over, I need to find some more clever ways to have FUN with working out! Over the weekend we went to the hubby's family farm and I even brought snacks along to stay on track! I had strawberries and grilled chicken for snacks along with raspberries and low-fat cheese, yum! I haven't been drinking any alcohol which is encouraging to my hubby and helps me not waste calories too! Things are good but I need more motivation to stay active!!!! Any advice is appreciated! Belly Melt Tip of the Day: Including short bouts of vigorous activity can speed up your weight loss and cut your workout time by 50% or more. Researchers found that women who alternated 8 seconds of high-intensity exercise with 12 seconds of low-intensity activity for 20 minutes, 3 times a week, slimmed down faster than steady-paced exercisers who worked out twice as long. I work out!

Hello there fans I am coming to you from my kindle fire after an awesome workout! I have def been out of the game for way too long so I was huffing and puffing my big butt all over my neighborhood! I took every cold-a-sac to make the walk longer and timed myself using my iphone 4s (not a brand whore or anything haha) with its built in stop watch so I could do exactly as my book says. 3-5 min warm up 15 min steady pace 5 mins of intervals of 20 seconds fast, then 20 second briskly Now I don't know, maybe I'm workout stupid but what is the difference between fast and brisk?I mean they seem the same right!? I just opted to do a fast pace where it says steady for 15 and a run/fast walk for the intervals. It seemed to work cuz i was sweating and definitely feeling it! Anyway so I'm feeling good about my workout today, plus I have a softball game tonight at 9:15 so that's even more chance to burn fat quickly! So I'm thrilled at this point and now its time to make some dinner...I'm sure youre all just dying to know what is on the menu! Wrll I'm glad you asked because i would love to share! :) Organic roast beef sandwich on whole wheat bread with green olives and a mediterranean salad The salad has chickpeas, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and black olives with lemon juice, very healthy and delicious! I am going to include a small tip or piece of advice from my book in every blig from now on so be sure to read to get in on all the great belly busting tips! Tip of the day: Instead of doing 2 or 3 sets of a single exercise before moving on, make a circuit: do 1 set and then immediately move to the next exercise, repeating the entire circuit 2 or 3 times. Because your heart rate stays elevated longer after curcuit-training, you continue to burn fat as though you were still exercising, therefore burning more calories. For now....positive and hopeful!
